Dyson has always felt like one of those “dream brands” to me. The kind you imagine owning one day because of its reputation, innovation, and that quiet promise that life might feel a little easier with it in your home. I’ve used a larger Dyson model in the past and had a great experience, so when I decided to invest in a new vacuum, the brand itself already felt familiar and trusted.
This time around, I was looking for something lightweight, portable, and practical for everyday life — especially as a mum. What drew me to this particular Dyson model was how easy it looked to move around the house, carry up and down stairs, and use one-handed if needed. The feature that really sold me, though, was the wet roller head, which promised quick cleans on hard floors alongside carpet vacuuming. The idea of one tool doing it all felt very aligned with how I like to keep my home: simple, efficient, and realistic.
When Things Didn’t Go as Planned
On first use, I ran into an issue straight away. The vacuum showed an “airways blocked” error, even though there was no blockage at all. My initial reaction wasn’t frustration — it was self-doubt. I genuinely thought I must be using it incorrectly. I went straight to Dyson’s troubleshooting guide, which I actually found very clear and helpful. I followed every step, carefully checking everything.
But when the issue didn’t resolve, that doubt turned into disappointment. I remember thinking, Oh no… maybe this vacuum isn’t as good as I thought. Maybe I’ve made a mistake investing in this when my cheaper vacuum technically still worked.
That’s when I contacted Dyson support — and this is where the experience really changed.
Dyson Customer Service: Genuinely Impressive
Dyson’s customer service was honestly one of the best support experiences I’ve had in a long time. They patiently walked through troubleshooting with me again, listened carefully, and fairly quickly acknowledged that it seemed like a fault rather than user error.
There was a small hiccup along the way — the wrong replacement part was initially sent, and at the same time they had actually requested a full machine return via email that I’d missed. But what stood out was how quickly and calmly everything was resolved. Once I sent the full machine back, it arrived with them the next day, was processed promptly, and a brand-new replacement vacuum was sent out within days. I had it back in my home surprisingly fast.
That level of service genuinely matters. No product is perfect, but how a brand supports you when something goes wrong makes all the difference.
Living With the Replacement: The Real Test
The replacement vacuum works beautifully. The dry vacuum head performs well across hardwood floors, soft play mats, and carpeted areas. Because the head is smaller, it easily fits into tight spaces, under furniture, and even under my low couch — which is something my old vacuum couldn’t do.
One of the biggest wins for me is how lightweight it is. I can carry it up and down stairs, move quickly between rooms, and even vacuum while holding my baby — exactly what I hoped for when choosing this model.
The wet roller head has been a mixed experience, but not in a deal-breaking way. It’s great for quick floor refreshes, especially in a small space like mine. However, I’ve learned that it works best if you rinse the roller frequently during cleaning. If I don’t, it can leave light streaks, particularly near skirting boards, which I then need to wipe afterward. It doesn’t fully “wash” the roller as it goes, so it’s more about maintenance and regular use than deep floor cleaning.
For me, that’s manageable. I don’t have a huge area of hard flooring, and I value speed and convenience over perfection.
Would I Recommend It?
I would absolutely recommend Dyson as a brand. The vacuum itself is excellent, and the customer service alone makes the investment feel safer.
As for the wet roller feature: I think it’s best suited to small homes, people who don’t mind frequent light cleans, and those who are comfortable with a bit of hands-on maintenance. If you have a large house, dislike bending down, or want a one-pass, deep-clean solution for floors, a dedicated mop system might be better.
For me, the Dyson fits beautifully into my daily rhythm — simple, efficient, and supportive of real life. And knowing that the brand stands behind its products gives me genuine peace of mind.
Sometimes, it’s not just about how a product performs on a perfect day — but how well you’re supported when things don’t go perfectly. And on that front, Dyson truly delivered.
